This sentence came from an entrepreneur that I follow. As I listened to him elaborate, he said that you can have all the knowledge in the world, but if you don't take any action, nothing changes.
YOWZA!
"I don't feel like running. I'm too tired to lift weights. I'll stretch later." You know who said those things? ME. I'm sure all of us have made similar statements when we don't want to do something.
Taking action is a HUGE challenge for many people and can block success. Why? We tend to think about it vs. "just do it".
If we don't take any action, we don't have momentum, which means that we are not consistent, which limits our results.
Small consistent actions can lead to big results.
Every Wednesday, Runners Roost in Boulder hosts "Run Club". You can choose anywhere from 3-7 miles, a trail or road run.
The first time I went out with the group for the "easy" three mile run, I literally thought my lungs were going to explode. Nobody mentioned what I've labeled "Heinous Hill" - this is where I thought the paramedics would meet me that first night.
Consistency. Small actions.
I have only missed one Wednesday run since that first night, and want to know what happened on "Heinous Hill" tonight?
I got passed by one of the oldest runners in the group. There was a woman AHEAD of me with her infant/running stroller. BUT - for the first time in several weeks, I did not feel that medical assistance would be necessary for me!
Out of breath, but not close to death!
I made it to the top, and the whole way back to the store, I thought about how important consistency and "the little things" are. Specifically, taking these little actions each week that add up over time. An investment in your future.
We have three months left in 2024. What "little things" will you start this week that will add up for you by the end of this year?
I'm happy to help you take action and improve your fitness before the end of this year. Holiday season will be here before we know it - hit reply and let's discuss an investment in your health and future.
"Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end." - Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich: Original 1937 Unedited Edition
Keep moving forward my friends, one step at a time.
Rather than blast you with a firehose, I'll share one thing per week - (that should take me to next Feb!) and we'll start with one of my favorite presenters - Lawrence van Lingen. https://www.innerunner.com/about-us
Sorry - I know it's hard to read!
He is incredibly authentic, and his YouTube channel simply says "Move Better. Live Better." This guy really understands the body and has a fabulous communication approach as well. "Running found me."
I had SUCH a good time at this conference, I even met in the lobby at 6:30am to head out for a run!
More nuggets of wisdom from this conference next week!
TREADMILL TUESDAY
Shh - it was actually Monday Night when I did my long run and filmed this - less than 5 weeks to go till NYC, and I need some of the Detroit Lions GRIT!!
This week, we hit 49%. I've got work to do in my running, AND in my fundraising. These next several weeks are the hardest for both training AND fundraising, but it always works out. I know we will get there!
***Kathrine Switzer will be live on our team Zoom call next week - can't wait to share some of her inspiring words with you!
Every time I receive a notification regarding a donation, my spirits are lifted and I realize how lucky I am for this opportunity. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
