What is Your "Wicked" Finish to 2024?

THE LONG RUN

Keep Moving Forward & Transform Through Life

TRANSFORMATIONAL THOUGHTS:

Hello Reader,

Many of you know that I chose "transformation" as my word for 2024.

We have 16 days left in 2024. Before the end of this year, I will share more on the concept of "word of the year" and how it can apply to you, your running and your life.

This concept is more than a New Year resolution - the word serves as a daily reminder to embody and bring to life.

"Embodiment is the necessary leap your word has to take to go from your mind to your life." You have to take action.

This week, I'm sharing two examples of strong women transforming:

When I saw the movie "Wicked", the song "Defying Gravity" really resonated with me. It marked a major turning point and transformation for the main character, Elphaba. It seemed as if she literally transformed during the song, as she embraced her identity and powers.

Last week on Monday Night Football, there was an incredible story that wasn't about the game. Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Armani Latimer is 26 years old, and was diagnosed with alopecia areata when she was just 12 years old. She is now in her third season of cheering with the Cowboys, and has always worn a wig.

This week, she chose a transformation as she courageously made the decision to perform without her wig.

"I always knew that I wanted to eventually dance in some capacity without my wig, just to make [alopecia] not a stigma anymore," Latimer said. "I just wanted to take it a step further, wanted to get the conversation out there a little more, and I thought, well, what better way than to go out on the field and just show the world who I am?" - Armani Latimer

If you have chosen a word for 2024, I'm challenging you for the next 16 days to embody your word. If you didn't have a word for this year, there is still time for you to accomplish something for you or someone else before the end of the year.

Go out for a walk/run when you don't feel like it. Look at the race calendar and pick something for next year. Do some strength training that's a little more challenging than what you've done in the past. Ask someone to walk with you, volunteer, help around the house.

Don't just think about it, make it happen, and let me know about it.

Keep moving forward my friends, one step at a time.

TEASER - REVEALED!

Last week, I posted this teaser, and said I would share more:

I'm super excited and proud to share the podcast episode I did several weeks ago with Selene Yeager, of HIT PLAY NOT PAUSE:

You can connect to the audio version here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/unlock-your-fascia-to-go-from-stiff-to-swift-in-menopause/id1533088916?i=1000679983863

Early this fall, I put together a workshop course to share information about the "fascia" - the connective tissues all of us have in our bodies that often contribute to stiffness and soreness.

I firmly (get it? tissues? firm?) believe that if we intentionally keep ourselves mobile and work on these tissues daily, most of us will feel a world of difference.

Perhaps it's a good time to TRANSFORM your mobility??

I feel SO passionate about helping people to get their bodies moving and I'm more than happy to answer any questions - hit reply and let me know how I can help!

"It's Not A Moment. It's A Movment." - Feisty Media

This week on TMTD, I shared the history of the Feisty Media group, and how I became connected with them. If you want the longer/more vulnerable version, you can check it out here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dTern4IyF88mjtTTJ6NCbMeDscN5CUUA_mno3O4HcX4/edit?usp=sharing

They have inspired me to make some big changes for 2025, and I can't thank them enough!

GIVE THE GIFT OF A TUNE UP - 30% OFF

Nancy Pelosi fell and broke her hip last week.

Mitch McConnell fell and landed on his face last week.

Menopause specialist Dr. Mary Claire Haver does not LOVE to exercise, but now calls it her "nursing home prevention program".

I may be biased, but I believe there is no better investment for 2025 than a virtual or in-person consultation to get a better understanding of your body.

Whether you are a runner, a masters athlete, or just someone who wants to move and feel better, this one-time consultation is for you.

  1. We will spend an hour discussing past, present, and future with regard to your body and any related concerns.
  2. You will then go through a live movement assessment, where I can learn more about your body, and how it moves.
  3. Finally, based upon the above, we will curate a plan for you to follow.

FROM NOW UNTIL THE END OF 2024, YOU CAN PURCHASE THIS CONSULT FOR YOURSELF OR SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT FOR 30% OFF = $115.

BolderBoulder Recap!

Jumpstartrunning Presents: In The Long Run IMPACTful THOUGHTS: Hello Reader, Well, it happened. My first BolderBoulder experience was yesterday and it was awesome, but to be honest, it also bummed me out. I was planning to volunteer - as a course marshall for the professional runners. Getting there wasn't the problem - I actually allocated enough time and parked without issue. I couldn't find my people and somehow walked 20K steps around the course: Didn't mean to "bandit" the course at the 5...

Are You "Over-JOYed"?

Jumpstartrunning Presents: In The Long Run IMPACTful THOUGHTS: Hello Reader, Have you been feeling over-JOYED lately? It's not uncommon for the topic of joy to come up on a daily basis - in conversation, on television (I'm not talking about the host from the View), and many different books, podcasts and printed publications. Why all the joy?? Joy has been found to have a positive impact on mental and physical health. This includes: resilience and coping, improved cognitive function, lower...

Relationships, Dicks, and Pie (oh my!)

Jumpstartrunning Presents: In The Long Run IMPACTful THOUGHTS: Hello Reader, I thought that subject line might grab your attention! Allow me to explain: You can't make this stuff up!!! While scrolling through the Boston Marathon facebook page, I couldn't help but giggle at this "marketing" from Dicks Sporting Goods. The caption at the top was from the individual who posted this, and I'm SO glad he did. MEANING/MEETING IN MICHIGAN: It has been 33 years since my last high school soccer game. At...
