Thoughts and BELIEFS:
(BELIEF is my chosen word for 2026 - what is yours?)
Hello Reader,
Change is inevitable.
The first newsletter I ever sent was February 22, 2016.
At that time, running was "my thing" in so many ways; recreation, friendships, business, travel, etc.
I never expected my running to shift to "a thing", but change is inevitable.
So is aging.
Running four miles consecutively without a walk has been my new finish line and learning opportunity.
What I've learned about myself and women's health over the past two years has paradoxically frustrated and fueled me.
Oprah Winfrey had to see five different physicians to get to the origin of her heart palpitations when she was 48.
Despite access to the best healthcare, Melinda Gates said it took three physicians to diagnose and treat perimenopause in her early 40's.
Midlife women deserve reliable information for their health, support for excessive cognitive load, and to experience the power of connection and community.
Getting back to a four mile consecutive run is still a priority along with helping runners; twenty-six years of running and movement experience will never leave me. ❤️🏃♀️
It's now under the umbrella of my bigger mission that involves movement, connection and fulfillment for midlife women.
Maya Angelou said, "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
I know more. I can do more. I can help more.
Change is inevitable, but evolving is intentional. More to come in the next several weeks.
Thanks for coming with me.
Walking, running, and cheering beside you,
Nikki
What's With The Name?
I lost a friend to pancreatic cancer this year.
She wasn't "just" a friend, and she wasn't "just" a client. She was chosen family and a gift.
Jean personified grit for so many reasons; especially when it came to her health. You can see for yourself in this beautiful obituary HERE written by her loving sister, Diane.
I met and started working with Jean (JB) when I first visited Williamstown, MA in 2016. I moved there a year later, and saw her every single week.
When I moved to CO in 2024, we continued our sessions virtually.
Her health changed in 2025, and that's when we started "Tuesdays With JB"; a weekly phone check-in. When we couldn't talk, we would text - always on Tuesday.
The duration of our conversations diminished, but never her spirit. I'll never forget one call ending with her saying, "I love Tuesdays With Nikki."
Jean received my newsletters and gave positive feedback; she was an English teacher/professor for more than 30 years. I appreciated her kind words despite my novice writing!
I know she is still reading my newsletters, and every Tuesday I'm now in touch with Diane.
Jean was an important part of my life; I have many stories to share about her in the future. For now, she'll join us in the title each week; I can hear her voice when I read, "Tuesday With Nikki".
"Jean’s life was an example of kindness and love. She was very social and had many friends, each knowing they were her “best” friend. She was always “present” when having a conversation, taking the time to get to know each person on a deep level, to learn about their families, their interests. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the lives she touched during her 79 years." - Diane
"Here's to many more Tuesdays with JB."❤️
