Thoughts and BELIEFS:
(BELIEF is my chosen word for 2026 - what is yours?)
Hello Reader,
History was recently made by a runner who crushed an old course record by two and a half hours.
This wasn't for a marathon. It was the distance of almost TEN CONSECUTIVE MARATHONS.
This athlete is a SHE.
Rachel Entrekin crushed the Cocodona 250, the first time a woman has ever won this race.
Contrary to the myth and objection from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in the early '60s, her uterus did not detach or fall out.
Rachel did not become "defeminized" by this race, as previously claimed by the AAU. She ran 168.67 miles more than the limit of 1.5 miles from that era.
She didn't just finish the race with a sprint and a smile; she finished and showed women what is possible with self BELIEF: "Why not you, why not now, why not try?" - Rachel Entrekin (clip from Good Morning America)
Personally, I have zero desire to run a 253 mile race. What I do desire is the gift she gave all of us - a snapshot from her mindset: "Why Not Me?"
Back in the day, the recommended limit for female runners used to be 1.5 miles. Someone decided that was the truth. Some women chose to believe it, and some didn't.
What limit have you chosen — and who told you that was true?
Walking (or running) beside you — one step at a time.

One of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health is take a walk in nature. You never know what you might run into that could change your brain chemistry.
I was hiking on a trail that was new to me and came upon a "burn scar" - land that has been affected by a wildfire.
Here are the details: in 2012, there was a 300 acre fire started by lightning. It was called the "Flagstaff Fire Boulder" and it was on the 5th consecutive 100° day. Fire department contained it before any injuries or damaged homes.

Way To Go Chelsea Handler💪
51 year old comedian Chelsea Handler wants to "ski like a badass".
"I want to look my strongest and my healthiest. I want to be powerful. I lift weights because I want to be strong and I want to be able to ski like a badass, you know? I train all the time because I want to be strong for skiing."
Did she start with 35# weights? No. Does she do this on her own? No. Does she like it? NOW she does. (If you go to her Instagram page, there is a video of her squatting while holding her dog)🐶
She started with a trainer twelve years ago, and she refused to lift more than 10# because she was afraid of getting "bulky".
Currently, Chelsea said "I have never been happier with my body than I am today."
Next week, we will discuss the process of knowing you should be lifting to how to become your own "badass" with strength.
"No More CLAMMYS For Your HAMMY!"
This was a promise I made to a new client, who had an unfortunate previous PT experience.
She had an issue with her hamstring, and wanted to be proactive before participating in the Disney Marathon Weekend.
The PT she saw did the best he could with the skills he had. Unfortunately, he did not "speak" runner, and instructed my client what NOT to do (run) in addition to having her complete "clam shell" exercises.
The "clam shell" is something we were taught in PT school, for strengthening the hips. Is it a BAD exercise? No. Is it what this particular runner needed to get her back to pain-free running? No.
Does THIS look like running to you?
I'm not knocking the PT and the client did what was prescribed for her. Unfortunately, her program was more "traditional", and she attended sessions for months without significant improvement.
She felt that something wasn't right. Luckily, she trusted her intuition and asked her coach about getting another opinion. Her coach referred her to me.
This was after just 2 sessions; I was thrilled for her!
I will go as far to say we are both having "fun" during our virtual sessions together😂
Spending money on yourself to hire the right guide with the right expertise makes all the difference in the world. You might even have a little fun along the way.
If you have questions regarding your training, need help getting unstuck, or need to discuss options to help you feel better, I would love to help.
Don't wait and hope. Take action.

In The Long Run Thoughts and BELIEFS: (BELIEF is my chosen word for 2026 - what is yours?) Hello Reader, Sabastian Sawe ran a 1:59:30 to break the world record at the 2026 London Marathon Sunday morning. A feat that has been contemplated and chased for years. He completed three marathons before this one, coming in first for each around 2:02. After every race, he returned to his training — knowing he was capable of more. His coach knew it too. He noted a phrase from the book "The Way of...
In The Long Run Thoughts and BELIEFS: (BELIEF is my chosen word for 2026 - what is yours?) Hello Reader, Twenty-nine years ago today — Good Friday — my parents drove to Central Michigan University to bring me home for Easter weekend. On that same day, a letter arrived telling me I'd been accepted into PT school. I was beyond excited, and I remembered the feeling of pride I had on the drive home. I did it! The next night I was out celebrating with my girlfriends from high school. 29 years ago...
